As the end of 2018 approaches I have been doing a little bit of reflecting about my almost first year in business.
I have always loved taking photos and definitely took it up a notch when my first baby arrived. However transforming this love into an actual business wasn't something I came to until after baby number two arrived.
In those loooong early morning hours I would put together ideas about photos I would take of her the next day. Where the light would be good, what she could wear (that was not covered in .... baby), when I would do it. I would put these plans into action about 50 per cent of the time. The other 50 per cent - life was happening!
When she was four months old I made a conscious decision to actually try and do a proper photo shoot - to see if I loved the whole process as much as the end result (spoiler: I did!). It took some planning with my new sidekick! But six weeks later I was on location (Centennial Park) with my willing nephews, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, a rented full frame camera and a stomach full of butterflies.
I loved it! I loved taking the photos, interacting with my subjects (who I am quite fond of 😀), I loved sorting through to find my favourites, editing them and the best bit - presenting the final images. I was hooked. The images from this very first photo session remain some of my very favourites.
So as the new year approaches, if there is something you have been thinking about doing, why not give it a go? What's the worst that can happen?
Have a great day!
